SEO – Search Engine Optimization | Google’s Secret

What is Google’s Secret to SEO?

Search Engine Optimization
has become as dicey as craps. You never know with the “snake oil salesman” that will guarantee the top of Google within 48 hours let alone any time at all. Another one is being indexed in Google with 48 hours as well. You know what…these can all be true. I said it! In fact it can be done legitimately through the proper channels. If you have the knowledge you can get indexed in Google within 48 hours and be on the top on Google’s Search Engine results for a competitive word with at least 20,000,000 results within 5 days.

To understand organic SEO isn’t easy at all. While some things are pertinent within Yahoo’s search it might not be for Google. For instance Google takes the meta description, the url, and title of the webpage. It does you no good to flood keywords because they simply do not use them. But, if you do flood them, they will pick that up and punish your site.

Optimize each page according to that particular keyword without keyword stuffing. Make a well written and descriptive title and description and this will help tremendously. Be patient because sometimes it can take spiders a couple of days to crawl your site.

Market your Postcards the Right Way – 5 Tips

December 8, 2009 PrintFirm, Inc. Leave a comment
The postcard is a valuable low-cost marketing tool that many companies use as their primary method of advertising. They are useful to achieve a wave of traffic to your web site and to generate high-quality sales leads.

Here are 5 Tips to maximize your investment on printed postcards:

  • Tip 1 – Design to save money

A basic rule of thumb is the more complex and colorful the design, the more time you spent designing it – and we all know time is money. An elegant design rarely improves the reply rate, unless you are advertising graphic design services. A simple, minimalist design that looks like a message from a friend can be printed at a commercial printer for as little as 4 to 7 cents per card.

  • Tip 2 – Get to the Point

Clearly state the benefits of using your company. Try to capture the reader’s attention right away. Don’t bother trying to use the postcard to close the sale, instead use it to generate sales inquires. Use the postcard as a means to motivate the reader to get more information from where you close a sale, whether it is your website or phone number. Make sure to have your web address and phone number show clearly and prominently. I am always amazed at how hard it is to find a phone number or web address on many postcards.

  • Tip 3 – Use a Mailing List Wisely

It’s worth the expense to have a mailing list that is tailored to the type of people likely to be interested in your offer. For example, send them to customers of non-competing businesses that sell to your targeted market, subscribers to publications read by prospects in your targeted market or to prospects who previously requested information about products or services similar to those you offer. Mailing List Brokers have all of this information.

  • Tip 4 – First Class All the Way, Baby

Send your postcards by First Class Mail. It costs only 23 cents in the US if they are at least 3 1/2 by 5 inches but not over 4 1/4 by 6 inches. This gives you all the benefits of First Class Mail for just a few cents more than Standard Bulk Rate Mail and it produces more replies.

  • Tip 5 – Timing is Everything

Send your postcards so they arrive on Tuesday or Wednesday. The volume of mail delivered in the US on those days is usually light and your postcards won’t have to compete with a lot of other mail delivered at the same time. Try to avoid having your postcards delivered on Monday. It’s usually the biggest mail delivery day of the week and a very busy day for most people.

If you follow these tips, we are confident that your printed postcards will maximize their sales potential. Happy hunting!

Cool Business Card of the Week – A Die-Cut Goodie

December 8, 2009 PrintFirm, Inc. Leave a comment

This is an excellent example of using the die-cut to your advantage. What I like about this business card is not just the whimsical use of the bite mark, but how the card still maintains a standard size while featuring a unique die-cut. This means the card is able to be filed in a business card holder or kept in a wallet unlike many die-cuts that feature over the top shapes and sizes.

Beyond the obvious, this card features a couple other nice touches:

On the front, a good use of color – Two tones similar in shade, enough to offer some variety, but not too gaudy or overpowering. A modern logo with a catch-phrase – Somebody spent some dime getting a marketing department. Information on the back laid out in a clear fashion.

All said, this card has got it all! For business card printing and post card printing, PrintFirm has it all! You can get 250 printed business cards staring at $13.99!

We’re all trying to save a buck, but the real trick nowadays is saving money without looking like you went cheap. Here at PrintFirm, we have developed many ways to have your printed materials looking sharp and modern without putting a strain on the wallet. With that in mind, we present the top 5 ways you can create a unique and affordable business card:

  1. Rounded Corners – One of the simplest and most cost-effective methods for achieving a modern business card is rounded corners. “Having all or some of the corners on your business card rounded can make a huge difference in the overall look and feel of your cards.” PrintFirm offers 1000 Round Corner Business Cards for $30.99. That’s an unbeatable price!
  1. Magnets – “It’s not a new idea, but making magnets out of your business cards is a way to create a useful product with your contact information. And they are more likely to be stuck on the fridge and less likely to be tossed in the trash.”
  1. Folded – “Folded cards let you stand them up like a table tent on an exhibit or display, and you can make them mini brochures with additional information about your company or services.”
  1. Mini Cards – “Mini cards are business cards that are smaller than the standard size. This can make the cards stand out, yet those receiving them can still stick them in their pocket or stack them with other business cards.”
  1. Die Cut – “Just like mini cards, business cards in a different shape can be especially memorable. You can try something as simple as a circular card or create a custom shape.”

Special thanks to sitepoint.com for these great ideas. Remember, unique and exciting doesn’t have to mean expensive! What are your cost-cutting ideas? We’d love to hear your comments.

Don’t Let your Business Cards Go to Waste!

An effective way to keep your business card out of the trash bin is have it serve a different function other than providing just the basic contact information. There are multiple ways to add an exciting twist to your business card printing and we will feature these different ways on a weekly basis.

A simple “Thank You” is a useful marketing message that many companies use:

Thank You! Business Cards
Thank You! Business Cards

We recommend giving the client a little reward for actually keeping the card. Saying “thank you” is polite, but it’s not going to win much customer loyalty. Take a cue from the example above and give a discount of some sort and that will make a big difference. Give them out to clients, put in envelopes with correspondence, stick them in shopping bags with their purchases – there are no end to the ways you can market yourself using these business cards!

Remember, PrintFirm is the #1 destination for all your printing needs!

Holla Business Card

We like this business card for a couple of reasons –

  1. The front really gets your attention with the intense color scheme and cartoon 3-D logo. This is an excellent example of not saying much while making an impact.
  2. The back is clean and easy to read while maintaining the modern color scheme. Take note of the watermark logo in the bottom right corner which adds another dimension.

Don’t create an awesome business card design like this and then leave the printing to an amateur! PrintFirm is your one-stop shop for all your printing needs.

Save the Environment – One Print at a Time!

November 30, 2009 PrintFirm, Inc. Leave a comment

Being that we are a print company, we’d prefer for you to print everything through us. In reality, we know that the majority of your printing will be done at the home or office. And in case you haven’t noticed, print cartridges are expensive! Therefore, consider this a little holiday gift from all of us at PrintFirm.

From ecofont.com
- The prints we make for our ‘daily use’ not only use paper, but also ink. But your ink cartridges (or toner) could last longer.  We have therefore developed a green font: the Ecofont.

“After Dutch holey cheese, there now is a Dutch font with holes as well.”
Appealing ideas are often simple: how much of a letter can be removed while maintaining readability? After extensive testing with all kinds of shapes, the best results were achieved using small circles. After lots of late hours (and coffee) this resulted in a green font that uses up to 20% less ink. Free to download, free to use. There is also a print solution for business environments: Ecofont Professional.

How to install the Ecofont?
Windows Vista, Windows XP, Max OS X, Linux

The letters don’t appear clear on my screen.
The Ecofont works best when using font size 9 or 10. The results vary depending on your software. If you work on a Windows platform you could use ClearType.

Is there an Ecofont serif too?
The Ecofont is (also) intended for business purposes. In business environments the sans serif Verdana – on which the Ecofont is based – is often used.

What else can I do to save ink?
Take a look at the suggestions on ‘Behind the Ecofont‘.

PrintFirm, Inc. has been serving thousands of happy customers since 1996. We proudly offer the lowest possible prices for printing while maintaining a high level of quality and professionalism. We strive for excellence and our goal is for you to become a repeat customer. We have the best prices for Business Cards, Flyers, Letterheads and Envelopes, Calendars, and many more.

Does “Standing Out” Really Work?

November 29, 2009 PrintFirm, Inc. Leave a comment

I have a graphic design colleague who loves kooky business cards and wild designs. I’m more of a fan of clean and classic designs – some may call it boring. My friend’s belief is that in order to stand out in the vast wasteland of endless competition, a bold and innovative business card is a must. He will even go as far as to say “the uglier, the better.”

Here’s an example of what my friend is talking about:

Kooky Business Cards

Kooky Business Cards  Source: Ads of the World

I think it’s annoying to have to tear a tab like I’m opening a package of cookies so I can get a phone number, but that’s just me. I’m a boring guy. I believe a business card is a end to a mean, not the opposite. The card should be utilitarian – to give the necessary information without having to “sell” the company. However, sometimes a good idea for a business card comes along that makes even a curmudgeon like me say “wow, that’s pretty cool.”

My question is – does a innovative or unique business card sell you on the company? Have you ever purchased goods or services from these companies because of a cool or wacky card?

If you’d like to see more of these innovative business cards, check out this article.
